Lesson Plan: Sailing Right-of-Way Rules

1.	Warm-up	Share my personal background of why I chose this topic.  See if anyone knows anything about sailing right-of-way rules or other types of right rules.	2 minutes
2.	Presentation   Teach the new content and language.	First, explain what a left (port) tack and right (starboard) tack are and how sails would look like based on the wind direction. Then, explain the two main rules of “right-of-way” Right is right  Windward stay clear Third, do some key examples together.	5 minutes
3.	Practice and Production	Use the “Right-of-Way” test stimulator app on my phone. If students are understanding, we can make it a game  If not, we can continue doing it together	3 minutes
